Smacking
Green Party MP Sue Bradford has asked for her new anti-smacking bill to become law. But this will only pass if it gets 61 votes. What are your opinions about the anti-smacking law and do you think it should pass? – Hamish

I think that smacking sould be allowed but before parents have children, they sould watch a DVD all about children and what is right and wrong.

I think banning smacking is not going to stop the perents abusing their kids because they can still abuse them in private.

i agree with shannon. banning people from smaking their kids will not stop abuse. there is a difference between a smack and being abused. there is a law against abuse but how many people follow it? it’s just like shop lifting, it’s illegal but people still do it. people will have to want to stop smacking there kids, they can’t just be told that it’s illegal, that won’t stop people.

well i also aggree with shannon if they do end up banning it well that wont stop the abuses but then if they dont ban it it may become worse so its a very tricky decision to make on weather you go with the banning or not i think christna said somthing little about the the parents will have to stop the smacking themselves thats true because nothings going to stop them its their own choice -well i would probably be here for hours typing so thats my opinion

i agree with shannon, but i think that they arent going to get anywhere with this argue ment, as the debate on both sides are so strong. i dont think that in any way both sides are going to be able to reach a compramise as not any way i can see will both sides agree and be happy fairly. with this arguement either smacking is band or it is not!

i think that voting ethier way wont make a diffirence

I actually think smacking should be banned because of on the news tonight. 2/03/07. I thing time out is better suited, but abusing a child is a heck of a difference between child abuse. If they bann smacking the world might just be better off. [Yeah right!!!] But I don’t know i am kinda in the middle. I wonder what every other child thinks?
I vote No Smacking staight up. But i might change my mind later.

i think their should be a smacking ban but in other ways i don’t. This will help in some ways but allow kids to get away with more stuff that they shouldn’t do.
March 4th, 2007 at 12:23 pm
I think that a law shoul be made to ban smaking children, even though alot of parents will disobey this. But as part of the law parents should be allowed to give their children a very small smack, just to give their children a fright. Because some children are very naughty and thats all they need as disaplin. I also agree with Patrick about having parents watch a movie in hospital before their child is born. Adds on tv about smaking would probably help too.

i think we should leave it to the profsinals, i don’t mind if no smacking becomes law, it probably won’t change anything anyway because the goverment can’t watch what goes on in your own home, smacking won’t stop because it’s law and i don’t really think it should.
March 4th, 2007 at 12:50 pm
I don’t think that smacking should be banned because in the naer future the kids that don’t get disipined will be out of controll. they will soon be worse than kids nowdays.
March 4th, 2007 at 3:47 pm
I agree with Kelly. There shouldn’t be a smacking ban, but there should be a program to prevent unecessary smacking. By unecessary I mean smacking with out reson, smacking too many times and smacking with to much force.
March 7th, 2007 at 7:20 pm
I think that even it there was a law for no smacking that people would still smack and no-one would know because its more the parents who need to at least stop smacking to many times and stop smacking with to much force.
March 8th, 2007 at 8:34 am
i agree with holly that if there was a law people would still smack. i think that smack and a little hit.
March 8th, 2007 at 3:47 pm
I agree with kelly because if kids diddnt get disiplined they would think it would be all right and they would keep doing it with out thinking that they are doing anything wrong.
March 11th, 2007 at 8:53 am
I think that there does need to be something done about smacking but i dont think that banning smacking is the answer. I mean who will know if someone is abusing there child? no one exept the people who did it and the child. So if there is a ban on smacking it isn’t going to stop people from doing it.
March 11th, 2007 at 5:04 pm
well i agree with fransis i a little bit we are not adults and that means we have no kids to smack so it not really a big problem for us
i mean when im older with kids i may disapline them resonably but never would i abuse them would you?
