Boy’s suicide following fight hurts school
This is the sad story of a boy’s suicide following fight hurts school
”The mother of a depressed Auckland teenager is blaming health agencies for the death of her son.
Teenager Toran Henry was found dead at his home on Auckland’s North Shore by his mother the day after being beaten up in a fight which had been videoed by other students phones. Maria
Bradshaw has put a moving tribute to her son on YouTube.
He was a student at Takapuna Grammar School.
His mother Maria Bradshaw says the school knew of his depression and should have been more sympathetic. She says the school knew he had been beaten and the only action they took was to ask the students to wipe the video off their phones. Maria Bradshaw has put a moving tribute to her son on YouTube.”

Hi!
That is SCARY!
I feel sorry for the boy.
A mother should NEVER do that!!
How silly and bad.

I think that is very sad. And the teachers and staff!
Urghh!
They should be ashamed of themselves. They made a boy commit suicide, and they didn’t do anything about him getting beatan up either. Who would want to go to a school like that, where know one does anything about anything. I know I sure wouldn’t! I feel really sorry for the mother of the child. She should have talked to the teachers or even the principal about it. Or she should have sent her son to a diffrent school. Anyway I feel really sorry for his family.

I agree that the school should have shown more sympathy towards the teenager as far as his depression goes. I also think that the school should have taken some action against the people responsible for bullying this teenager. This is a serious issue and I feel it was taken too lightly.

Well I think that it is really sad to know that bullying or ’school ground scraps’ (what ever you may call them) can push someone to the point of killing themselves. It makes you think of how bad the world is getting when it comes to violence.
But then if it was getting to the point where he couln’t take it (by the sounds of it it had) maybe he could of taken a better path like talking to his mother and as Naveen said asking to get changed to a different school. But then he probably was all emotionaly mixed up and didn’t know what to do or how to handle it and he thought it was his only way out.
Sarah’s right the teachers and staff should have taken note of the fight and sorted out a councillor or someone that the boy could talk to. And hopefully now they are aware they have to be more conservitive and get help to others as they would not want a repeat of this.
I also feel for his mother for this to happen to her it must have been quite an impact and if I was his mother I would felt I had failed in communicating and keeping on the same track with my son.
Well thats just my opinon it would be interesting to see what others thought.
