You are probably too young to have played Lemmings on the computer but I know it was one arcade type game that I found highly addictive. Now there is a similar game available for free download, Pingus. Instead of Lemmings you have to save tiny penguins! You can download it here!

If you have tried the ‘Free Rice’ game then you might enjoy these:

I have just come across this interesting game - I’m sure you will be able to begin playing quicker than me! I’ve placed it here as you might want something to do for the last couple of days of the holidays, especially as it’s raining!
Following on from the environment theme of the last few posts, I found this game, Planet Green Game, by Starbucks Coffee Company in collaboration with Global Green, USA.
Starbucks and Global Green USA collaborated on the Planet Green Game to educate the public about climate change through engaging and informative game play while encouraging individuals to become part of the solution in their own lives. The game also assists individuals - through simple tools and links - in advocating action by elected officials, business and community leaders.
I’m sure somebody will have a go and let us know what they think!
This is a Coca Cola site but it looks to be fun. Can someone check it out for me and let us know what it’s about?
I’ve found this chess site which may be useful to those of you who are wanting to join our recently formed Chess Club but do not yet know all the rules - MathsNet Chess Club

Thanks to Larry Ferlazzo I’ve found a National geographic site which has educational value, National Geographic Maps: Tools for Adventure. Once there go to Map Games and try Explore a Pyramid.
Rather than take up room here I have posted links to two new games - one to help you practice your typing and one where you have to discover who is the spy working in Great Britain during World War II.
Another gem from Kevin Jarrett! It’s called Minyanland.com and it’s totally free!

From the Minyanland site:
We created MinyanLand as a platform to entertain and educate a young generation so they understand the concept of a market and the basics of economics and finance on a real world level. The economic system of MinyanLand mimics the real-life pricing of general goods and services. As players participate in the system, their actions will affect the overall MinyanLand economy. This is how they will learn. To keep the economy stabilized, for instance, players must stay healthy by eating on a regular basis. MinyanLand will also offer incentives to encourage such behavior as charitable giving.
K evin says:
Kids work jobs that require them to use, among other things, math and reasoning skills, they learn about the value of money and the concept of investments and they interact in immersive 2D spaces that combine nifty graphics with recorded, realistic environmental sounds that make the experience incredibly lifelike.

Internet safety is paramount at Minyanland, and the chat system (partially shown above) helps ensure that messaging is limited to the context of the game and that no personally-identifiable information is shared.
There is no mention of a suitable age group for this game so maybe one of you could investigate it during the rest of the school holidays and leave a comment here as to what age group you would suggest.

From Jane’s E Learning Pick of the Day I found this Google game! You can download all the pieces, put the game together and spend the wet days of the holidays playing!
Googolopoly, a game where you can take part of ruling the internet even if you don’t work in Mountain View. The goal of the game is to use Google shares to buy as many properties as you can without landing in the deadpool and losing your stock.
To download the game in its entirety (including instructions, google shares, googleplex pieces, and more), visit here: http://www.box.net/shared/dguu2bfy88
